Shakiah Danielson

Shakiah is a hip-hop artist and self-taught hip-hop instructor and choreographer. Shakiah is the Artistic Director of “The Groovement” and formerly directed the hip-hop program at Northwest Tap Connection in Seattle, WA. Shakiah is also a teaching artist for Seattle Theater Group. Shakiah began choreographing 15+ years ago for theater productions by Restoration of the Arts (ROTA), a non-profit artistic organization in South Seattle with a focus on utilizing the arts to reach at-risk youth. In the recent climate, Shakiah choreographed a piece that led to a cinematic collaboration with the National YoungArts Foundation on race and social justice called “Hell You Talmbout” that circulated and won awards at numerous film festivals. Shakiah takes a bold, passionate approach to hip-hop coupled with an eclectic blend of music to deliver fun, energetic, and thought-provoking pieces. You never know what you’re going to get!”
