Jason has always been drawn to spaces where creativity and structure meet, from music to dance to theater. His first significant foray into that space was during his junior year of high school, where he discovered community and a sense of belonging in theater. Since then, he’s stayed active across all areas of theater. Performing on stage and helping with tech during his time at Dakota State University, and transitioning more to backstage and stage management during his time at the Des Moines Community Playhouse in Iowa.

After college, he started his career in computer security but soon discovered a love for programming. This led him to transition into software engineering, where he joined Principal Financial Group as a developer and spent four years before embarking on a new adventure at Best Buy, this time leading a team of engineers as a Senior Software Engineer. In many ways, his experiences and lessons learned in theater and the arts have translated into software engineering and the professional world. Much like theater, software engineering demands precision, creativity, and problem-solving under pressure.

Since moving to Seattle three years ago, he’s made volunteering a consistent part of his life. Volunteering has long been a personal value, and he’s stayed actively involved through nonprofits, community projects, and local events. Whether supporting others in their growth or contributing behind the scenes, he finds purpose in work that brings people together and creates a lasting impact.
