Using both traditional and nontraditional tools—ink, pen, paper, collage, butcher paper, colorful cut-outs, and unexpected mark-making tools—we create as Native aunties do, intuitively, unapologetically, with intention. Messy is welcome. Dramatic is welcome. Contradictory is welcome. The intention isn’t perfection; it’s presence, voice, and story.\nFacilitator: Dr. Georgina Badoni\n\nMeaningful Inclusion: Engaging with Distinct and Focus Pathway Students in Visual Arts Classrooms This workshop combines the expertise of Seattle Public Schools Special Education Program Specialists to provide an overview of the vision for special education, share attributes for students in the intensive special education pathways (distinct and focus), and share strategies, specific to visual arts, that support student learning and inclusion. There will be time to apply learning to your visual arts classrooms through a demonstration lesson by Graham Hill’s visual arts teacher.\nFacilitators: Michelle Bammert, Melissa Baron, Marian Fink, Alison Spencer \n\nTeaching Visual Arts in Muslim Contexts: Beliefs, Representation, and Practice This session invites educators to explore Muslim beliefs and perspectives related to visual arts through conversation, observation, and hands-on. The session opens with a facilitated discussion using case studies of real scenarios addressing common questions, assumptions, and nuances around Muslim contexts. Participants will then engage in a light, shadow, and pattern art activity inspired by Islamic visual traditions, with a focus on intention, process, and reflective spaces. We’re partering with Sound Transit to host the 2026 K-12 Youth Poster Contest!\nThis year’s theme is “Safety is a team effort.” Show us what it means to look out for your friends, family, and community around tracks and trains near the road.\nSubmit your design from February 23 through April 20 for your chance to win up to $250 and have your design displayed on our trains!\nPoster Contest Guidelines\nPoster submissions can be uploaded below or submitted in person at Arts Corps (4408 Delridge Way SW, Suite 110, Seattle, WA 98106) Monday through Thursday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.\nEach submission must include the artist’s name, grade, school, and an original design to be eligible for judging.\n• Design is sized to fit 8.5×11 or 11×17 document or art board.\n• Open to K-12 students in King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties\n• Limit one entry per student; no group entries.\n• Designs must be on the theme (see above).\n• Submissions should include an Artist Statement from the student about their poster and what being safe in and around transportation means to them.\n• Posters must be original artwork created by students.\nFor more inspiration, Sound Transit’s Safety Messages are:\n\nLook both ways. Trains come from both directions, so always expect a second train!\n2. Headphones off, screens down. It’s important to stay alert to be safe.\n3. Take crosswalks, not shortcuts. DESCRIPTION:The Youth Arts Grant is a 2-year program that helps middle and high school students in Seattle get more access to arts and cultural opportunities. These programs happen outside of school hours and are led by skilled artists and teaching artists. The goal is to create more opportunities for young people from a variety of racial and socioeconomic backgrounds to connect with the arts.\nEligibility\nProjects must take place between September 2026 – August 2027 and September 2027 – August 2028.\nEligible applicants include individual artists, teaching artists, arts and cultural organizations, youth-service agencies, and degree-granting institutions.\nPrograms must be available to middle and/or high school-aged young people and take place within Seattle city limits. Talk with the project manager if you have questions.\nYour physical address may be outside Seattle city limits.\nAll artists and teaching artists hired by awardees must have at least one (1) year of experience working with the project age group and art and/or cultural forms.\nProjects must reflect the Youth Arts grant priorities and demographics.\nFunding\nSelected awardees will receive a total of $12,000 in funding support distributed over two (2) years of programs: $6,000 in 2026-2027 and $6,000 in 2027-2028.\n \n

Hence, “Instant Noodles!” There is no other place in the Northwest to experience this much Asian talent under one roof. The plays will be performed twice! Once on Saturday night and once on Sunday afternoon. Then it’s over!\n
